Blaze – The place that stole a ‘pizza’ my heart

Yesterday was Pi Day and a few Calgary businesses were participating in something to commemorate. One of those businesses was Blaze Pizza who was offering the first pizza you purchase for $3.14. My boyfriend has gone to Blaze for lunch with coworkers but I have not been yet so I thought Pi day and their awesome special was the perfect excuse.

We made our way to Blaze in Mission to see a line up outside the door. At first I thought “are people here just for the deal or is this place really that good?” After 1 hour of waiting for my pizza, I am happy to say that it was because  of both. The deal was great, but so is the pizza!

If you haven’t been to Blaze before it is definitely a place to try out. The best thing about this place is that they feature a build your own pizza that you can add whichever toppings you desire – with no extra cost! If you choose to change the crust to a high rise or gluten free crust an up charge will be present, but with no extra cost for all the toppings a small price for the crust is not a huge cost. Can’t decide if you want pepperoni or ham? No problem – you can have them both! If the numerous toppings are too much for you to comprehend a tasty pizza creation, no need to fret, Blaze also offers signature pizzas which your sauces, cheese, and toppings are already  chosen. However, you can also modify those pizzas if there is something you do not  like out of the pre-set kinds.

We chose to go for the build your own pizza. One pizza is more of a spicy meat lovers with spicy tomato sauce, a variety of meats and cheeses, and other spicy toppings like buffalo sauce, banana peppers and jalapeños. The other pizza had a garlic pesto sauce (Pro tip: have the sauce put on the crust too so your crust is like a garlic bread), an assortment of meats, and lots of veggie toppings, including zucchini, arugula, and sautéed onions. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with any toppings on pizza (except maybe pineapple… I haven’t quite got on that train yet) so the build your own option with no extra cost for toppings is a great way to explore new flavour combinations at a great price!

Overall, it was a successful Pi day. Blaze, you officially stole a ‘pizza’ my heart. Looking for some more pizza favourites? Check out my previous blog post: Pizza Favourites.
